The ISS Has Ditched Windows Entirely — For Linux
Image/photo

The United Space Alliance has decided to stop using all Windows computers aboard the ISS, in favour of Linux — to ensure it’s systems are “stable and reliable”. Ouch.

The decision will see “dozens of laptops” change from running Windows XP to Debian 6, reports Extreme Tech. There are already Linux systems aboard the ISS, but from this point on Microsoft is banned. Keith Chuvala of the United Space Alliance has explained that the move to Linux will provide “in-house control. So if we needed to patch, adjust or adapt, we could.”

Good news that identi.ca is moving to pump.io and I'm one of the active user (luck by chance) whose account will go to pump.io! https://e14n.com/evan

It should recreate the connections to the ~friendica ~friendica contacts as long as they are on a recent enough version.

For all other networks I don't think we can do something as long as they don't understand the "I'm moved' activity.

Btw I found that backup account produces unusable JSON which needs to be fixed some how

You mean the full backup? Don't know if that is supposed to be fed back into the system to be used for recreation of the account.

But I've never really played with the exported data because of lacking time. I'm just exporting the account part from time to time to be able to restore it in cases where my database backup fails.

backup routine produce a non valid json file.
the first line in file is same as account file, other lines are items from db, one per line, in json.
So if you take only the firts line, you should be able to import that...
